Job description

Are you ready to move into a tax role that offers a new challenge? Then check out this position in a Peterborough-based firm.

To grow as a tax professional, it’s necessary to step into roles that bring an extra challenge and level of complexity compared to what you’ve done in the past. Unfortunately, careers can stall when it feels like you’re no longer moving forward.

If you’re ready to step up and progress your career, then this newly available position within a Peterborough-based firm might be just the position you’re looking for. The tax partners are looking for a tax expert with experience and qualifications to join their growing personal tax and trust department permanently.

As a tax manager, you’ll be responsible for managing your own portfolio of personal client tax and trust clients, which are varied and include high net worth families, trusts, and office groups. As well as managing your own clients, you’ll also oversee the work of more junior members of the firm, reviewing their work and developing the team. You will report to a senior manager and the firm’s partners and help your senior manager with duties and the team's management.

While you will arrive with experience, you won’t be the finished article. The perfect candidate will be a highly motivated individual who will embrace the chance to learn more by participating in the training sessions that the firm will provide.

As we mentioned earlier, this is a challenging position, so it’s best suited for a professional who has steady experience working on tax-related matters and is ready to develop their skills and tasks as part of a personal tax team.

The role:

You’ll work on a wide range of tasks. These can include completing self-assessment tax returns for wealthy families, individuals, and trusts. Additionally, you will work on CGT calculations on property transactions, as well as completing estate tax returns. But this is just a starting point: the tax matters of wealthy groups can be complex, and the ideal candidate will be ready to dive into all the challenges they can bring. Ideally, you’ll have worked on complex tax matters in the past, including those related to residence and domicile matters, employment tax, and accounts preparation.

Prospects:

You will have a track to a senior manager. This is a very successful tax practice, and you will have yearly options to make a case for promotion.

Who You Are

The team that you’ll be working as part of is small but mighty, so the ability to work as part of a team is essential. In addition, you’ll need exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, because of the team's tight-knit nature.

This is a chance to step up your career and take on additional responsibilities as part of a fast-growing team, working within an experienced organisation. If you’re ready to progress, then be sure to get in touch with us to discuss this attractive job in greater detail.
