Job description

Advance to director in a 12-30 month time frame at this top firm.

Most of the Senior Managers I speak to are looking for firms that operate like modern businesses and invest in their people. They see it as the ideal working environment to allow them to progress.

How many of us can actually claim to have experienced that?

Most accountancy firms will want to see a return before investing in a team and their resources. Your team will need to deliver results before the business frees up extra resources for staff, marketing etc.

The firm that I am recruiting for invests in its teams to expect it will win business and experience high growth. The senior partners have a tremendous track record of building teams and think like business people. In other words, when they hire someone at the senior end, they put money behind that person.

“My door is never closed to good ideas.”

The MP of this firm understands entrepreneurs and is not afraid to think like one. He makes the choices that smart mobile businesses make when they want to prosper. He is not afraid to invest in ideas and people. This translates into great staff retention and a thriving practice.

“I want people who want to advance.”

The head of corporate tax is a friendly and driven individual who will challenge and support your career every step of the way. Her success is linked to your advancement and what you achieve in this firm. Needless to say that she wants you to prosper.

What will the role involve?

You will support the corporate tax partner on high-level corporate tax projects and team management.

Examples of the corporate tax team's work include M&A work, tax-efficient structuring and due diligence corporate reorganisations, demergers and reconstructions; international tax, transfer pricing, double tax treaties, property taxation, property development by UK and overseas companies.

Clients: With a client base and tax advisory work to rival much larger firms, a wide range of clients, from overseas listed companies, international groups, and owner-managed businesses

The quality of the tax team and its client base are major selling points for this role and will further improve your technical ability. In addition, there is a high density of CTA qualified tax professionals in the team for you to call on and a lot of exes Big 4 members. The other “big sell” is the ability to advance here quicker than you might do in many other firms.

What will this mean for your career?

The role is designed to take you to a partner, and the firm will provide you with the tools to make this happen. The ‘tools’ will include exposing you to some of the firm's best clients to improve your technical and commercial skills. You will be looking to make a director in 12-30 months.
