Fundamentally, the role will involve working within the tax consulting team on a wide variety of tax-based projects. These can include corporate reorganisations, share schemes, research and development tax, capital alliances, property transactions, preparing the tax section of due diligence reports, and other miscellaneous projects.

In your position as a tax consultant manager, you’ll offer your considerable and specialist tax knowledge to the client base. . As this is an assistant managerial role, a can-do, self-starter attitude is essential. You’ll be in charge of handling the clients’ needs and looking to build a relationship. 

You’ll also be in charge of more junior staff and handle many admin tasks, including creating effective billing procedures and WIP control. The mentoring of junior employees, helping to organise the team and supporting senior tax staff.

On a day-to-day basis, you’ll complete reports in alignment with PB specialist requirements, provide tax planning advice to your clients, and work to identify new opportunities for growth, including bringing on board additional clients. An ongoing understanding of tax developments and legislation will be essential to success in the role. 
 
So who are you? You are likely to be CTA qualified and an excellent communicator, both written and orally. With an eye for commercial growth, you’ll know how and when to pound on opportunities as and when they arise. In general, you’re a positive go-getter that can work alone and as part of a team. In addition, you’re a creative thinker who can solve problems and understand that you are responsible for your success.

You will be fully supported in your role. You are likely to have a compliance focus, which is fine. The team will provide you with a mentor figure to get you up to speed in a pure consultancy role.

You are likely to make manager in 12- 18 months.
