A leading accountancy firm is looking for a corporate tax senior manager to join its team in London. This firm works with not-for-profit organisations, private individuals and families, and businesses on all matters relating to tax, wealth, and business.
The firm has a long history, and during that time, it has built a solid reputation as one of the leading firms in the UK. They achieved this not just by valuing the clients but by investing in their employees. The work culture is positive and supportive, where colleagues help one another. They also put frameworks in place that allow employees to deliver their best work, for example, by offering a flexible working environment and prioritising staff well being and lifestyle.
What The Role Entails
As a senior member of the team, you’ll report directly to the Head of Corporate Tax. Using your solid grasp of UK corporation tax and business taxes, your client work will ensure that they are fully compliant, as well as identifying tax planning opportunities.
Planning assignments will form a large part of your role, in some cases taking a lead role. The scope of these assignments can be broad. It can include tasks such as advising corporate sales, performing due diligence on acquisitions and providing detailed analysis of tax areas such as demergers, transactions in Land, EMI, and EIS schemes, and the Disguised Investment Management fee rules.
To ensure that you’re fully confident in your role, you will be given some training and exposure to various international tax matters, such as double taxation relief and treaties, thin capitalisation and CFCs. However, some prior experience with these matters would be helpful. As a manager, you’ll be in charge of training and mentoring more junior members of staff. Previous experience in this area is beneficial.
The clients you’ll be working for come from diverse backgrounds, including a range of industries. They can include large corporations, multinational businesses, AIM-listed PLCs, FSA regulated companies and entrepreneurial growth companies.
The primary objective of the role is to ensure that the corporate tax department runs as smoothly and successfully as possible.
More broadly, you’ll be in charge of ensuring that the tax structure of UK and international clients are in order. You’ll also help manage the CT compliance services of a wide range of corporate clients and review complex tax returns and the work of more junior members of staff.
You can achieve director in 18-36 months.
To qualify for this role, you should have a CTA qualification (or equivalent) and have previous experience in a corporate tax role as a manager or senior manager.
